Samaritans (Social Work Students’ Association of Marian College) showcased an open discussion on Endosulfan and its effects at 3.15 pm on 16 November 2010 at the Academic Block. Dr. Cherian P. Kurien (Director, School of Social Work), Dr. Anish K R (Co-ordinator ) , Mrs. Princy Sebastian, Fr. Alex J Vellappally and Mr. Renjith R of the School of Social Work were present on the occassion. Mr. Ajesh P. Joseph (Faculty, School of Social Wok) welcomed all participants and introduced the topic for the discussion with extensive and in-depth information. Mr. Jose from 2nd MSW opened the discussion with a brief introduction on the history and impact of Endosulfan. Faculty members and students from various departments actively participated and contributed their views on the topic. Mr. Biju P. Mani and Mr.J T Jayasingh, faculties of Marian College gave their insights into the issue. Mr. Louiji Louis of 1st MMH concluded the discussion with a remarkable comment, saying that there must be gradual scientific implementation of organic farming in India instead of relying on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
