School of Social Work conducted Free Medical Camp as part of MRHP

Social work trainees of Marian School of Social Work displayed their true spirit of service by conducting a one day free medical camp at Marian college premises on Sunday, 28th November 2010. The camp was a collaborative effort of School of Social Work, MRHP (Marian Rural Health Programme) and Chazhikadan Foundation, Thodupuzha as part of the community outreach programme.

Peermade Panchayat Health and Education standing Committee Chairman Sri. V. S. Prasannan inaugurated the medical camp. Around 200 people from various wards of Peermade Panchayat benefited from this camp. The services of a Paediatrician and an Orthopaedic surgeon were available to the people.

To the social work trainees, it was a real life experience as well as a great exposure to the practical side of their learning. The medical camp bridged the classroom with the community bringing the individual social responsibility of every trainee into action.

Mrs. Princy T Sebastian and Mr. Renjith R (Faculties, Marian School of Social Work) were also present for this programme

Principey for a Good Samaritan

“Do all the good you can, to all the people you can, at all time you can in all place you can”. Our Principal Dr Ruble Raj was sharing his philosophy of life as a recipe for good Samaritan in an interactive session organized by SAMARITANS on 25th November 2010.

Service is the rent that we pay to the world and only a good Samaritan can provide selfless service – he added quoting Mrs. Hellari Rodham Clinton. The interactive session was a wonderful opportunity for social work trainees to have a glance at the lighter side of Dr Ruble Raj and listen to his reflections on a variety of topics like practical side of life, happiness and Politics in campus.

A real optimist, an articulate motivator, Principal could inspire social work trainees of marian college – commented a Samaritan while he was sharing his session experience.

School of social work Director Dr Cherian P Kurien, Coordinator Dr Anish K R and Mr Renjith R (faculty Member) were also present on the occasion
